The Piety Stall usually opens at the following times:
Saturdays: After 6pm Mass
Sundays: Between morning Masses and after 11.15am Mass (but closes at 11.15am on the first Sunday of each month)
The Piety Stall is run by the St. Vincent de Paul Society and is manned by the Society's volunteers.
The stall carries a range of Christian items such as gifts for Baptisms, Confirmations and Fist Holy Eucharist; devotional items; greeting cards and prayer cards.
The principal aim is to provide a service to the parishioners of St. Johns and St. James rather than making a profit.
It is uncertain when the Piety Stall started to operate. Some parishioners seem to recollect a shed outside the Church being used for the purpose. Today the stall is operated within the Narthex at St. John's.
Over the years several volunteers has assisted in running the Piety Stall. Among them, Jack Franklin and Andrew Remenyi (who are understood to have made the wooden trays and stands that are used to display items on the counter), John Francis (purchasing and 22 years behind the counter, Michael Bergin and Joan Santamaria (purhcasing for many years), Mary Youny (purchasing and decorating Baptism candles), Pat Dugiud and Nilda Flores.
