The peaceful garden surrounds of St John's Church is the setting for the St John's Memorial Garden. Plaques to remember those who have died have been placed on the bell tower in the driveway of the Church and are now being placed on the wall outside the east door of the church. The garden beds have been blessed and dedicated as a suitable place for ashes to be interred. Please remember that this is a memorial garden where, your beloved's mortal remains rest and where you can come back to find peace and comfort (and this is not a place of burial/interment for sole use).
Plaques can only be purchased for people who either were parishioners of St John's Parish, or whose Funeral was conducted from St John's Church. The same criteria applies to the interring of ashes.
Individual plaques are the size of a single brick and carry a small cross, the full name of the person, dates of birth and death, and a short inscription (up to 30 characters).
Cost of each individual plaque will be a "one-off" fee of $300, which will include on-going cleaning as required and year round garden maintenance.
The interment process will be conducted at a time to be arranged with the parish priest and is a "one-off" fee of $300. A plaque can also be ordered at the above fee of $300 and this plaque will be placed on the wall of the Church outside the east door.
If you would like a family member or friend remembered and prayed for in this way, or would like to discuss arrangements for interment of ashes, please complete the form on the reverse side and return in an envelope marked "St John's Memorial Garden", PO Box 95 Mitcham, 3132, together with the required amount. The forms may be either posted or handed into the Parish Office or the Sacristy after Mass.
