If you are planning a wedding to be held at St Johns Mitcham and would like Fr Dispin John to preside you will need to contact him as soon as you have a date by ringing the Parish Office on 94016366.
The weeks and months ahead can be both exciting and demanding and the parish wishes you all the very best as you prepare for this monumental step in your journey of life.
To assist you as you prepare for your wedding day you will be required to meet with the Parish Priest, Fr Dispin John, on several occasions for the completion of necessary paperwork and the planning of your wedding mass or service. In 99 percent of cases couples are expected to undertake an appropriate marriage preparation program and this will be discussed at your first meeting.
At this first meeting you will complete the necessary government and church papers and to assist in this you both need bring copies of your birth certificates and baptism certificates. If either of you has been baptised at St John’s simply advise Fr Dispin and the office will research the Register. If one of you is not a Catholic but has been baptised in another Christian church we still need to site your baptism certificate. (Mother’s can be a great source for these documents!). At the first meeting Fr Dispin will provide you with some leaflets about appropriate marriage preparation courses and after the completion of your course we will then meet on two further occasions concerning your wedding mass or service.
Ideally this is should be done 6-8 weeks out from your wedding day as it will leave you free to deal with all the last minute issues.
